Shout out to Julia Kasdorf. I have just reread Eve's Striptease (University of Pittsburgh Press 1998). This is the first book of poems I have read from cover to cover in my new writing hut. I don't even have a desk in there yet. No chair, even, while I'm installing enough shelves around the perimeter for all of my books. So I sat on the floor and enjoyed her book, which I've had since grad school.
I remember when she signed it for me so cheerfully at a reading. I love her diction: Fat nouns showing one scene after another without any fuss. I would like to write one poem this year that is as complete as her poem "Living Large."
